Frankfurt/Erlangen, October 24, 2012 EUHA Congress 2012

AquarisSiemens introduced the new version of its successful hearing device, Aquaris, at the 57th International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians 2012 (EUHA) in Frankfurt. It sets another milestone in hearing instrument development, because no other system available today is that robust and delivers such high performance at the same time. The new Aquaris is now the only hearing device in the world that is certified according to IP 68. It is also based on Siemens’ newly-introduced Micon chip platform which raises its performance capability to a new level.

The Aquaris, which was introduced last year already, stood out because of its resistance to dust and moisture. And now, Siemens has additionally increased the amplification to 65 decibels because surveys conducted with hearing aid wearers in industrialized countries showed that in particular those with medium to severe hearing loss wanted sturdy hearing instruments. Siemens hereby reaffirms its strength in innovation and competitiveness within the scope of “Agenda 2013”. The result is that considerably more people who depend on hearing devices in daily life can now wear Aquaris.

The new Aquaris is based on the Micon hearing instrument platform that Siemens has just introduced and therefore offers numerous improvements in sound and individualization options that ensure more wearing comfort for new as well as experienced hearing device wearers from the first day.

Aquaris is the only hearing device that is not only water-resistant, but genuinely waterproof and also extremely robust. It is also the first hearing aid to be tested and certified according to the international IP 68 standard. Aquaris is therefore always a safe choice, regardless whether the wearer has a particularly active lifestyle, simply forgets to remove the hearing aids for showering, works in a dusty environment or is concerned that they could be damaged while playing with the grandchildren. Aquaris owners also don’t have to do without the many convenient features hearing systems have nowadays. Like other Siemens hearing devices, it can also be wirelessly linked to modern communication and consumer devices, and if the wearer uses two hearing aids, they can also coordinate with each other wirelessly.

Aquaris hearing aids made by Siemens are available in two performance levels and five different housing colors. If a customer would like a different color, then s/he can have an acoustician exchange the housing.
